Flute Arts Announcement, a/o May 14,2026

As my bio says, I took my first flute apart in 1974. It has been over 50 years since I began tinkering, learning, apprenticing, making and servicing flutes and piccolos (and some of the bigger flutes too). Flute Arts began in 2000. Throughout the entire 26 years of this ongoing venture, I have truly valued the patronage of so many clients. Some of these clients have been with me since I finished their flutes at Brannen Brothers back in the 90’s. Amazing.
 
It is with trepidation, and a bit of excitement, that we are announcing that we are closing down our operation, as of May 31, 2026. 

Rachael and I both have been blessed by many many aspects of this business. I cannot say enough how it has been a joy working with her for so many years. She has made my life as a craftsman so much easier and better. I am convinced that our clients have been better served because they were greeted by her principally, and had their work planned out and set in motion in a calm, organized fashion. She does the part of the job at which I am weakest. And made it so I can truly concentrate on what you need out of your instruments, as players out in the real world of performance. 

 

I have enjoyed serving our clients, sometimes teaching what flutes can and cannot do, but also learning about what players need, what they are getting, and not getting, out of their instrument. I have always taken the approach that my client relationships are that of collaboration. I have been truly blessed in these partnerships. I thank you, we thank you, for so many years of trust and genuine connection.
 

We are confident that there are excellent technicians out there now, and a really good group of young craftspeople who can meet the needs of our clients.
